What is happening in The Hague
On September 16, 2026, the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague deliver their first-instance judgment in the case against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi — leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).
The four are charged with crimes said to have taken place during Kosovo's war of liberation in 1998–1999. All four have pleaded not guilty. After a trial that began in 2023, the panel announces its decision on the morning of the 16th.
For much of the Albanian world, these are the men who helped lead a people out of occupation. The community is watching this verdict closely — and it will not watch in silence.
