Who we are.

Shqipëria Bashkuar is a nonpartisan civic initiative of the Albanian diaspora.

We've come together around a single, concrete demand: the creation of a dedicated electoral district for the diaspora, with reserved seats in Parliament.

Our goal is not to bring a party or a person to power. Our goal is for Albanians living abroad to be able to directly elect their own representatives.

The Albania we want

We want an Albania where institutions serve citizens and where power is accountable.

A country where opportunity is earned through work and skill. Where talent has a reason to stay. Where the law applies equally to everyone and a citizen doesn't need political connections to get what they're due.

Many Albanians have left because they didn't see that future in their own country.

We who live abroad don't claim to run Albania from a distance. But we have the right to organize, to vote, and to demand fair representation.

Our part is concrete: to turn the diaspora from a scattered electorate into an organized community, with a clear demand and representatives who are accountable.

We're not building a vehicle for personal ambition, and we're not seeking political office.

We stand for a principle that should unite Albanians of different views: every citizen should have a vote that carries weight and the ability to elect representatives who are accountable.

For the diaspora, this requires a dedicated electoral district and direct representation in Parliament.

Who stands behind Shqipëria Bashkuar

We stand behind this initiative publicly.

Shqipëria Bashkuar was founded by two Albanian-Americans who have put their names, experience, and public responsibility behind it.

Enri Zhulati

Enri Zhulati

Enri Zhulati was born in Albania and lives in Texas. His family left Albania in 1991 and built a life from scratch in the United States. That family experience is one reason he sees the diaspora not as a detached community but as part of Albania's future.

He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Texas and has worked as an engineer, product leader, and entrepreneur.

Enri leads initiatives at ComparePower.com, founded AlbaniaVisit.com, and built the technology behind the National Albanian Registry. He also serves on that organization's executive board.

His engagement with Albanian-American relations has family roots too. His father, Dr. Ilia Zhulati, served in the Albanian mission to the United Nations and played a role in the contacts that helped bring Albania and the United States closer during the final years of communism. Enri is co-author of his memoir, Lifting the Iron Curtain.

Through Shqipëria Bashkuar, Enri works to turn the diaspora's scattered voice into an organized civic force and into direct representation in Parliament.

Ervin Toro

Ervin Toro is a first-generation Albanian-American. He left Fier for New York in 1997, at the age of 13, after the political and economic crisis that accompanied the collapse of the pyramid schemes.

He holds a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Pace University and an MBA from Wagner College.

With nearly two decades of experience in international banking, Ervin has worked on leading global workforce, immigration, and international-mobility strategies.

He has been active for years in the Albanian-American community. He has served in the leadership of community organizations, is a founding board member of the National Albanian Registry, and has been involved in Albanian-American media and entrepreneurial initiatives.

Through Shqipëria Bashkuar, Ervin works to connect Albanian communities abroad with one another and to build a civic organization that lasts beyond a single election or protest.

A letter from Enri

My family left Albania on a three-year visa. We never returned to live there.

My father had spent years trying to help the country from the inside. He believed Albania could change through its institutions and its ties to the democratic world.

In the end, our family left and arrived in America with almost nothing. We built a life from scratch.

But leaving doesn't make you any less Albanian.

For years I've watched Albania lose its people: young people, professionals, and families who see no secure future in their own country.

We who live abroad keep supporting our families. We send money. We invest. We come back. We keep the language and the connection. But when it comes to political representation, our votes scatter across 12 districts and elect no dedicated representatives of the diaspora.

Shqipëria Bashkuar was born from a simple question: what is all this connection to the homeland worth, if we can't help build an Albania where people want to stay and where we want to return?

Let me be clear about what this initiative is and isn't. It isn't a party. I'm not running for anything. We don't back any candidate. We have one demand: a dedicated electoral district for the diaspora, with reserved seats in Parliament.
